HOLY SKIN!

Giambattista Valli SS23 - A world as it could be!

Pure, radiant, almost angelic appear the models backstage at Giambattista Valli SS23 during the line-up. Moments before the show the MAC Pro Team – lead by Moreno Salerno – finalizes what they call a skincare-makeup hybrid: make-up that gives the impression of radiance coming from within and a glossy finish on eyelids, lips and cheekbones.

“Undoubtedly this season’s key feature is the skin; luxurious, radiant, perfected but believable skin is given another dimension by elaborate use of gloss and shine textures“ explains Live Appelland, Director of Senior Artists EMEA – MAC Cosmetics.

This no-makeup makeup is framed by sleek waves of hair and lush, exuberant earrings – some models are even blessed with a huge crystal between their eyes.

The overall inspiration for Giambattista Valli Spring Summer is a roman aristocracy, a holy, peaceful world playing with several european epochs.

Between the overwhelmingly grungy collections in Milan and Paris reflecting the current mood in Europe, Giambattista Valli conjures up a world as it could be. A cultural and epochal mix – roman togas made from pearls, venetian lace and french tweed, chiffon, silk and renaissance embroideries. And a lot of movement – yes, freedom for the body! The see-through dresses, light fabrics and cropped two-piece suits offer the equivalent of an armor.
There is no doubt, this is definitely a Spring Summer Collection.
