Paris Fashion Week F/W 19/20:
Dior
At Dior, Maria Grazia Chiuri continues her exploration of feminity while rediscovering the house heritage. This season, she’s going back to the 50s with an echo of Princess Margaret, choosing the French brand for her 21st anniversary portrait by Cecil Beaton. 50s were also the golden years for the Teddy Girls (the female counterpoint to the Teddy Boys, the first British subcultural movement after WW2), wearing wild quiffs, biker jackets and ample skirts. From that starting point, the artistic director delivered a perfectly believable (thus wearable) collection where the rebellious references are often transformed into a polished wardrobe. The famous „Bar“ jacket becomes more masculine this time with a new collar proportion and the Toile de Jouy -one of the brand’s top selling signature- is renewed with a palm tree pattern. The show scenography is an ABC developed by the female artist Tomaso Binga and the make-up statement developed by Peter Philips a full mascara spider eye, half hiden behind a veil.
