Raving in the Rain

Diesel SS23

Only the brave were to attend this season‘s Diesel Show by Glenn Martens - yet they were many! 7000 people raving in a thunderstorm is something maybe only Diesel is able to pull off during fashion week.

Free tickets were made available for the show: 1.500 reserved for students of Milan’s universities, the rest for all customers who like to party. Since this collection praises celebration as a way of being, despite any weather conditions, Glenn Martens revealed - with the fashion-gods on his side (maybe they are clients, too?) - a collection that looked even more sexy and enticing in pouring rain than he could have anticipated.

Starting with a variety of upgrades on Denim Devoré that were printed from the inside with red Diesel logos, morphing into a showcase of unmatched denim, de- and reconstruction followed: distressed, laser-cut, printed, embellished, burnt - you name it. Utility is everywhere! Cargo pockets forming trousers only held together by straps, belt bags become bandeau tops or miniskirts. Zip-up denim tops, pants and skirts that can be combined to boiler suits. The still rising underwear trend is Diesel-ized with bra and thong stitched on sheer tops and dresses.

Advertising the free movie festival following the show over the upcoming weekend, filmposters are printed on simple t-shirts or on laser-cut leather tops, skirts and dresses. Even real life posters are manipulated to look like artisanal zip-up fur jackets. Impact, experimentation, pleasure, play - Diesel clothes become an experience. Ending with statuesque evening-wear the 7000 guests were stimulated to the max.

Visually, audibly, physically. It’s been a blast.
