Nowadays tulle is very popular on the catwalks. A very cheap material, easy to work with for dramatic volume and impressive visual effects. For Haute Couture week both Giambattista Valli and Viktor&Rolf are celebrating tulle, season after season. When it comes to ready to wear, the original « tulle girl » remains Molly Goddard. We’ve all seen the pleasant newcomer Tomoko Izumi rainbowed opus at NYFW but nothing beats Molly’s authentic touch. Ruffles and bold colors are part of her signature and radiate in her FW2019/2020 collection. But the parachute taffetas dresses and the numerous utilitarian details and accessories prove there is a life after pure romanticism.
