Paris Fashion Week F/W 19/20:

CHANEL

Today, Chanel said au revoir to Karl Lagerfeld. His last collection for the house has been presented in the usual breathtaking scenography at the Grand Palais -this time a reconstituted traditional ski resort with its chalets under the snow- but with very sober effects regarding styling, hair and make up. We all knew this show would be an emotional momentum. But despite the sadness (some models shed a tear on the runway) and the vibrant homage to the late couturier, this collection was not about nostalgia but about confidence. The keyword was comfort with roomy wool coats and wide legged trousers. Houndstooth and beige/black looks sat the tone : yes, Chanel will be Chanel forever. But classic doesn’t mean boring! The vivid colors came on point. So did the delicate printed chiffon dresses, sometimes layered over spandex athleticgear. To close the show in full beauty, Penelope Cruz and Kaia Gerber walked the runway -or was it a Chanel slope?- with adorable fluffy Swan Lake white dresses.
