Simone Rocha accessorized her Fall Winter 2022/23 collection with bejeweled make-up

Less embellished than previous collections, but still poetic and magical through semi-transparent organza, satin and patent layers and her iconic voluminous silhouette, Simone Rocha build a bridge between whimsical flair and warrior attitude, linked the heavy with the light. Her inspiration: The fairytale Children of Lir, where a girl and her brother are transformed into swans by a wicked stepmother and banished to live on a lake for 900 years.

With less application on the clothing, there was room to shine with make-up. Make-up artists Thomas de Kluyver created a similar balanced drama: Heavy rhinestones around the eye and princess-perfect skin completed Rocha’s created character in a modern, almost natural way.

Make-up artist Thomas De Kluyver: “Simone usually has so many embellishments and accessories in her show but this one was more toned down, so we discussed the idea of the make-up actually becoming an accessory itself.”

Make-up artist Thomas De Kluyver: “What I loved about this look is it is something that feels very futuristic but also vintage at the same time which I think is something Simone always captures so beautifully.“

“To personify the transparency of water we used a clear press on nails to add some length, elongating the nails and finger,” explains nailartist Ama Quashie who picked up on Rocha’s inspiration.
