10 years ago, Christopher Kane was considered as the future hero of British fashion. But being the top of the class is not always confortable. A very bad PR strategy, then the shares acquisition by PPR (now Kering) have damaged the image of the brand, if not the brand itself. Nevertheless Christopher Kane is a tremendously interesting designer. His collections (always worked in team with his sister) are always talking about sex and desire, blending sometimes pornography and fashion into a great new combo. For FW2019/2020, Kane has chosen once again to mix pretty and sexy. When we say sexy, it’s not about the usual slutty look à-la-Kardashian but a sophisticated understanding of kinkiness. Like Catherine Deneuve in Luis Bunuel’s Belle de Jour, the heroine is a good girl at daytime and a naughty one at the sunset. The 60s vibe is clearly visible on the catwalk with modernist cut outs and cleanly cut dresses and coats, most of them adorned with crystal chains. But the spicy taste comes with the fetish theme where latex plays the leading part. A pair of rubber gloves on a mini dress says it all: FF is not only for fast forward but also for the ones who like to play at the rear door.
