Driver's Delight

What do cars and fashion have in common? That question crosses my mind every time I enter a Ferrari-Show. A lot, of course! Lifestyle, prestige, thrill… but this time, Rocco Iannone turns up with a twist that moves the Ferrari Style a bit further away from the Formula 1 cliché. The Fall Winter 2023/24 reflects on the journey itself:

“Beauty is the pleasure that derives from speed, captured in its initial burst, in its full symbolic and design potential. It is the movement that stems from an idea, the aesthetic that captures the uniqueness of the transient, the sign of what is about to take place”.

This in-between beauty resonates notably in the materials and details of the collection: not fully processed Jacquard weavings, Denim roughly sprayed and off-colours such as a light pink, which hasn’t reached its full potential yet – the iconic Ferrari red. Elegant tailoring and well-done utility wear, sleek leather, recycled satin and a super cozy Teddy-jumpsuit (my personal favorite). With confidence Ferrari is circling in on a well rounded closet. Especially the padded, circular pants and the super tight knit-bodies are new additions to the Ferrari silhouette (and very fashionable, too).

Experience, heritage and budget – Ferrari provides conditions that occur like every designers dream. But after the third season we come to realize it is a tough one too. Between the ever-present car metaphors some might quickly get trapped – yet each season Rocco Iannone manufactures a net of concepts that also seduces those not familiar with the Cavallino Rampante – providing another way of craftmanship, Made in Italy.
